When you analyze data within dynamic reports, you will now have the option to include a buffer as part of your area of interest.

Users would like to be able to have an alert for a buffer around an MPA. This would allow them to capture boats that turn their AIS off right outside of an MPA.

Following on from Matt’s point below, would it be possible to include an option to create a buffer around the EEZ/MPA of interest, and do a period comparison for this area too to capture displacement?
Alternatively, if there was functionality to mask custom polygons this could be a workaround. E.g. draw a custom polygon around the MPA, mask the custom polygon to exclude the MPA, then do a period comparison for the custom polygon.
