The axes seems to be set at 1 mg m-3. This means it is really hard to see variation in parts of the world which are naturally oligotrophic. In some areas, for example around a Pacific island, Kure, the natural range for mean CHL is 0.09 and the standard error 0.002 - it's impossible to see this with the axes fixed at 1. Hopefully a quick fix to allow for flexible axes!
